Why the name Carmelics?

Good question! The name is currently subject to change, but this is what we have for now.

The names comes from the incident on Mt. Carmel in 1 Kings 18:20-21 in the Bible. Elijah a prophet of his God standing in front of the prophets of the god Baal and the people of the nation, said, “How long will you waver between two options? if the LORD is God, go after Him; if Baal, go after him.” Considering the religious tension that is continually felt in the world, it is refreshing to start the discussion with something that almost everyone can agree on: whoever is the true God (unless there is no God), follow that God; or else, do not follow God. Elijah then made a test that only a true could accomplish—a test virtually everyone of the time could agree about: if fire comes from heaven on a particular altar, that kind of proves that God exists.

This site is not a Christian endeavor. It has no religious affiliation. However, the hope is that we would be able to, as a community of humanity, work to lay out the evidence for and against every way of thinking those among us hold so that we could objectively look through the evidence and figure out what is true: rationally, reasonably, fairly, satisfactorily, efficiently, and effectively.
